                  Farm Happenings - January

Winter is upon us and we are now watching with bated breath
to see  how our experiment with turnips in winter will fare.  Even
with snow on the ground the animals forged ahead and foraged
the green crops.   The milk is still flowing and the production is
good.  Thankfully, good quality hay is still available at although
the prices have increased.  At this time we have approximately
180 families that own cows on our farm.  We still have 55 families
waiting to  purchase a cow and we are certain that in the spring
we will be able  to take on all 55 families.

Kitty and Abraham have proved to be wonderful parents and
all the puppies are doing just fine.  You can see the puppies, in
all their playful glory in the barn.  The pups will be ready to
leave the farm in January  and several are already spoken for.
For more pictures of the puppies and Abraham and Kitty
please see our  CLASSIFIED  webpage.

                      Store Happenings

We were finally able to butcher some Highlands and we are
well stocked with beef, lamb and veal.  Our ground beef is
back in stock but is selling very quickly.

I tried a new recipe for roast beef that received rave reviews
at our Christmas dinner.  The nice thing about this recipe is
that is a "make ahead" recipe and I will be making it again at the
beginning of each week and will disguise it throughout the
week as beef tacos, beef and barley soup and Eggs and
Hash.  I have made this Pot Roast recipe with both chuck
and arm roast.  Both turned out very well and the flavor was
rich, deep and comforting.

Brayden's chickens are taking what we hope will be a very
short break in the production of eggs.  We went from 15 dozen
eggs a day down to 1 dozen a day.  The production is beginning
to increase again, thankfully!   Brayden is finally beginning to
realize just how particular these little ladies can be.

Honey is out of stock at the moment but will be restocked
by the weekend. Coconut oil has been very hard to keep
in stock.  Although I continue to increase my orders, the
demand is keeping me behind the eight ball.

Please remember that Alan Yegerlehner has finished milking
for the season so all of our pet products will be out of stock
until next April.

Thank you for your support.
