Our Pastured
Poultry will be raised this year utilizing a combination of the French Label
Rouge method and the common pasturing method. Our birds will take a
minimum of 15 weeks to get to butchering weight since we believe that the longer
the bird lives, the more the flavor will develop.
We will be attempting to
keep the chickens out of the typical 12x12 cages on pasture once they are 6
weeks old and will raise them
in a wooded area contained with poultry netting. Wish us luck! We
will keep this page updated when we start the chicks in the spring. We
hope to produce at least 500 chickens this summer.
Update: The
birds are looking great and are growing according to schedule.
Note: We now have
pastured poultry in the store and in good supply. We will have whole
chickens, cut up chickens and chicken breasts for sale while the supply lasts.
